THESIS UPDATE

I have reedited my literature review and am working through my thesis proposal. I am selecting relevant literature related to Chinese wine culture and tang dynasty poetry. I am reviewing these texts and making explanations as to what they are lacking. My thesis will focus on the relationship between wine culture in ancient china and the influence it had on the poets Li Bai and Du Fu.

My argument is that the impact of wine consumption helped to shape the identity of the poetry, without this aspect, the work would be vastly different.

I am also researching several figures that depict wine merchants dated to the tang dynasty.

I am also reviewing my manuscript for my novel Li Bais Shadow and will have another draft completed in two weeks to be reviewed by my novel supervisor Louise Katz.
